Thelma was out of time.

Just one year old. Just one Husky in a shelter drowning in dogs.
She didn’t stand out. She didn’t have a medical crisis or a behavior flag. She was just… there. Waiting.

And that’s the heartbreak—because so many Huskies like Thelma disappear into the crowd.

But Thelma did need us.

Once she arrived safely in rescue, we discovered she was pregnant. This quiet, overlooked girl was carrying seven little lives. She delivered the Scooby Doo litter—seven healthy puppies who have all been adopted into wonderful homes.

Now it’s Thelma’s turn.

About Thelma

At just a year old, Thelma is the perfect mix of youthful energy, affection, and resilience. She’s a Velcro dog through and through—she wants to be with her people, touching you, leaning on you, soaking up every ounce of love she can get. After everything she’s been through, she deserves nothing less.

Personality & Home Life

• Very loving, cuddly, and attention-seeking — she wants to be someone’s shadow
• High energy — classic young Husky
• High prey drive — no cats or small animals
• Housebroken
• Pulls on leash — she’s enthusiastic about the world
• Allowed on furniture — and she’ll happily snuggle right into you
• Loves her people — she does best with someone home most of the day

Dog & Kid Friendliness

• Great with kids, including as young as 7
• Dog-friendly — she wants to play and enjoys canine company
• No resource guarding observed — she shares toys and bones without issue

Exercise Needs

Thelma thrives with:

• Daily walks (ideally 2–3)
• A fenced yard where she can safely zoom and burn energy
• An active family who enjoys getting outside

• Location: Fostered in North Carolina
• Transport available to NJ, PA, DE, MD, VA, NC
• Applicants outside this region may be considered if willing to drive to meet transport.

~~Husky Education And Rescue Team is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in.
