Meet Zeus

    About Zeus

    Bio

Zeus — the gentle wooly Husky looking for his forever people

We recently welcomed Zeus into the H‑E‑A‑R‑T family, and he has been an absolute joy from day one. Zeus is a 5‑year‑old wooly Husky, about 50 lbs, with the softest coat and an even softer personality.

Zeus originally came to one of our partner shelters after an alleged incident involving livestock while he was running loose. Over the next two months, the shelter observed nothing but calm, friendly, well‑mannered behavior. Their Director ultimately removed any dangerous designation, and they reached out to us simply to ensure he’d be placed through a rescue that could carefully screen

adopters and avoid homes with livestock — something we’re well‑equipped to do.

Now that he’s safe with us, we’ve spent the last couple of weeks getting to know him, and Zeus has proven to be an incredibly well‑rounded, easygoing companion who is ready for a permanent home.

    What we’ve learned about Zeus

    • We believe he'd prefer to be an only dog. Zeus is dog‑friendly, but not a player. He’s more of a peaceful companion who enjoys the presence of others without needing rough‑and‑tumble play. He’d do well as an only dog or with similarly mellow canine friends. A meet and greet would be required if you have a dog in the home.
    • Great on leash. For a Husky, he’s impressively polite on walks. We don’t use a harness due to his wooly coat easily matting, but he’s not a big puller — he prefers to stroll and take in the smells.
    • Housebroken and respectful. He hasn’t gotten into anything he shouldn’t, though he will check the counters if he suspects a snack reward.
    • Moderate energy. Zeus enjoys daily walks, lounging, chewing his Benebones, and the occasional burst of zoomies. He’ll chase toys and has a deep, expressive “woo” when he wants to chat.
    • Smart and food‑motivated. He knows sit and paw, learns quickly, and enjoys training.
    • Good in the car. Calm, steady, and easy to travel with.
    • People‑oriented. Zeus thrives with company and would prefer a home where he isn’t left alone for long hours during the week.

    What Zeus needs

    • A home without livestock or small animals
    • A family who enjoys a calmer, companion‑type Husky
    • Reasonable daily exercise and plenty of affection
    • Someone who appreciates a talkative boy with a deep “woo” and an even bigger heart
    • Near daily soft bristle brushing due to that wooly coat and regular grooming appointments

Zeus is currently being fostered in Maryland and is ready to meet the people who will love him for the rest of his life.

~~Husky Education And Rescue Team is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in. If you’re still interested in adopting from our rescue the first step is to complete our adoption application online at www.huskyrescueteam.org/apply
