But every now and then a true Angel comes along who has the abilities and means to care for a special needs dog. And well, Nikki's Angel came for her. Tarot was a Husky born with a genetic deformity. Her breeder was going to put her to sleep but the Vet intervened. Thanks to, yet another amazing vet tech, Tarot had a foster home while she recovered from amputation and we found her just the right happily ever after.

A story of fate for you....Mogli found himself in a kill shelter in Georgia. We rescued him, vetted him and transported him to his foster home in NC. Long time Adopters/Supporters, Joe & Rose recently lost their pack one by one and were Husky empty-nesters. They weren't quite ready to adopt again and took time to grieve. But when we shared Mogli's post, they KNEW he was meant to be their newest pack member. Rose and Joe split their time between NJ and NC. Ironically they happen to be in NC, just 10 miles from Mogli! MEANT. TO. BE. Mogli will never want for anything. His life will be full of love and Husky understanding and he just adores his new pawrents. Happy Tails to our cutest fella!

When Chloe was surrendered to the shelter she was taken immediately to the "back". There was no room on the adoption floor for her. Fortunately we found out about her and she passed temperament testing with flying colors!
But the bestest news of Chloe's journey is this little Shepsky has now found a furever family. She's already adored and in turn Chloe filled their missing link!

Skylar has been waiting for this moment for quite a while. From shelter, to foster, through heartworm treatment... She finally made her trek from GA to NJ two weeks ago.
We are happy to report her adoption trial period is officially over and Skylar has found her furever family. Our girl got her happily ever after.

When we rescued Apollo back in June he'd been through numerous homes, found himself in Animal Control and had reportedly killed a small animal. The only way he was able to leave the shelter was with a rescue partner....Us! We got Apollo settled in and quickly started scratching our heads. We couldn't understand why this fella had been given up on so many times because he is pawfect! Truly!
His foster family has two H-E-A-R-T Alumni, Husky mix Maize (who is dog selective) and Husky pup Jett (who needed a playmate). When the Holmes family thought about Apollo leaving they realized their pack is actually easier and complete with Apollo in it! As much as Apollo is loved by his new hoomans, this Happy Tails is all about the pack. Happiest of Tails to our Apollo. Thank you Holmes family!! Our sweet, wild-child Molly has a furever home. Molly won over the Volunteers with her sweet, sassy ways but needed a breed savvy home who could continue to work on her manners and help her feel secure. She's pure Husky puppy.
We're so happy to announce she now has a family to call her own. The Richards family was dedicated to making her adoption successful and truly embraces her silly ways. To them we give thanks!

Let's go ahead and make it Facebook official! We have met thousands of Huskies, literally. Every now and then one comes along that touches your H-E-A-R-T. For many of our Volunteers, Sage has a special place.
She came to us shut down and then had a complication from her spay, causing her to Hemorrhage. It's something we have never been experienced before. Sage had to learn to depend on us and in turn, showed us her true personality. She blossomed in the days during her recovery and stole our H-E-A-R-T's. So it's with happy tears that we bid Sage happy tails. We will miss you girl, but go live your best life!

We rescued them after their owner surrendered them to a kill shelter because they had too many dogs. The girls were emaciated, weighing 22 & 35 lbs. Their coats reflected the malnutrition.
After packing on some groceries, they look so much healthier and can continue to flourish in a home of their own!

This St. Patrick's day Finn says he may not be Irish, but he sure is feelin' lucky! After being sold in a parking lot, jumping out a car window, breaking his leg, receiving no medical care and living in a basement alone... His luck sure has changed! That's because...He was rescued by H-E-A-R-T, his knee has been surgically repaired, he's received proper, routine vetting and his foster family (our core Volunteer, Beth) simply cannot let him go! Finn is lucky enough to be in his furever home!

Our scared Georgia peach, Trinity arrived to us very shutdown. It took her foster Mom a few months to earn her trust, but her foster Sibes definitely helped.
So when we sought a forever home for Trinity, we knew she needed a confident canine companion to continue to show her the way. And we found her just that.
We are so grateful the Burton family is willing to continue to work with Trinity and we look forward to seeing her blossom even more in her furever home.

The big fella Walter won the H-E-A-R-T's of everyone who met him. Walter is one of the most pawsome Huskies we have ever saved. We knew he needed an equally amazing home.
Adopters Dan and Kristine, recently lost their boy, Marley and their female, H-E-A-R-T Alumni Sophie was lonely. Their home felt empty. And so in Marley's memory they opened their home to welcome our big hunk.
We are so honored to be able to make their family whole again and just as honored they chose our Walter to share their life with. Happy Tails to you, Walter!

Yeti is the last of the Trio we rescued back in January, but his stay with us was worth the wait because he joined a pawfect pack!

So this happened!!
Winnie was the puppy that came to us back in March from a hoarding situation. Her foster family worked so hard to rehabilitate her. She had to learn how to be part of a pack and to trust that she no longer had to fight for resources.
Kudos to them for their efforts because Winnie was able to leave us being a well balanced pup! (Well, as well balanced as a crazy Husky puppy can be!)
We're thrilled that she's completed her two week trial adoption and is officially in her furever home!

Just in time for Independence Day, Taz made his trek from NC to NJ last Saturday thanks to 7 wonderful Volunteers!
When we shared Taz last month, long time Husky advocate, Joe reached out right away. Joe just knew Taz was the missing member of his pack and boy was he right. Taz has fit right in and his troubles are finally over.
We couldn't be happier that Taz is with Joe and his pack and are so grateful he chose Taz! Happy Tails to our wonderful boy!

10 days post ectopic ureter repair and Anaya's incontinence has improved 90%! She still dribbles when she stretches, sneezes or occasionally in a deep sleep. Completely manageable and we expect with medication this will subside. We absolutely consider this a success!!
But best of all... She is now in her furever home with H-E-A-R-T Alumni Willow. You may remember Willow, she was the Mom to the Christmas puppies in 2019. Although there's an age difference, Anaya has definitely met her match and these two were fast pals.
We love return Adopters and know with 100% certainty Anaya will have an amazing life!

One of the benefits of a foster based rescue is the ability to learn and assess each dog's individual personality and needs.
When applicants Frank and Theresa were looking to expand their pack, we took time to understand their resident dog, Max's demeanor. We determined Max needed a smart, sassy girlfriend to keep him in check.
Our Bianca was just the girl for the job! We'd say Max's smile confirms it!

Lucky's string of bad luck has finally come to an end! 
Lucky is the Husky who found himself at our local Animal Control 7 times! Perhaps lucky number 7 was the trick, because the good folks at Friends knew who to call this time! H-E-A-R-T to the rescue!
Lucky is now living the Husky life with his furever family. We're so fortunate to be able to offer him this stability.

We rescued Hershey last year from a kill shelter in Georgia. He had a really nasty case of kennel cough and it took a while to clear up once out of the shelter. We found Hershey a pawsome forever home but before we could transport him, he fell ill again. This time with what seemed like pneumonia. We just couldn't get this poor guy well. As it turned out, his original heartworm test was a false negative and what was really wrong with Hershey was a nasty case of untreated Heartworm disease!!!
Hershey has now received heartworm treatment and is feeling much better. And through it all, his furever family has waited for him patiently. So today felt like a dream come true when he was finally able to join us here in MD!

Meeka was in a kill shelter in SC. She was terrified and pancaked to the shelter floor when we rescued her. Her foster mom and other Huskies helped boost her confidence. Meeka has now transitioned to her furever family! At first she was a bit unsure, but each day she gets more and more comfortable. A few months ago Alaska was dumped at the shelter when her owners moved away and didn't take her. Honestly, based on the fly strikes on her ears and being heartworm positive, that may have been the best thing for our girl.
Alaska has since received heartworm treatment and shown us what an amazing, happy demeanor she has. She recently joined her DC family and is settling in so nicely. They love her and based on her smile, the feeling is mutual!

We rescued Tait from a kill shelter in Georgia earlier this year. Tait is a bit of an older guy who was heartworm positive and had a skin condition. He was no stranger to animal control and had been there a few times.
We'd later learn he'd been reportedly drug from his owner's car which is likely why they didn't return for him this time. Well.... Tait is a survivor! This kind soul is so full of forgiveness and just loves everyone.
So when adopter Chris was looking for the right personality fit for his current Husky, Tait seemed like a pawfect fit. As you can see, Tait was so thrilled to meet his new Dad this past weekend & all smiles with his new Sibe sister.
